Another good result by Team corratec on the first stage of the Tour of Hainan (China). The stage, which started and finished in Qionghai, was characterised by a very fast pace. Nicolas Dalla Valle came in a well-deserved second behind George Jackson in the final sprint.
"It was tough", said the sprinter from Veneto immediately after the finish, "as in addition to the stage win we were also fighting for the leader's jersey. It was a very coveted goal. Unfortunately, things did not go perfectly, as in the last kilometre, I lost a few positions due to a skid. I then gave it everything, launching a long sprint to try to regain as many metres as possible and fight my way back through the field, and this strategy paid off. That said, I would like to thank the whole team, because without their work I could never have done it, and hopefully in the next stages we will be able to return to success."
Valerio Conti, completed the team's excellent performance, with 7th place who came back to the fore after the crashes that undermined his season. For the rider from Rome the first chance for success will come tomorrow with the slightly uphill finish in Baoting.
