After a stunning ride on the fourth stage of the Tour of Slovakia, which took the riders from Partizánske to Ruzomerok over numerous climbs on the 183.5 km course, the young Ukrainian rider Kyrylo Tsarenko, attacked on the first Cat. 2 climb of the day with a small group of riders, managing to break away from the rest of the peloton. After a long hilly day, Tsarenko only narrowly missed the stage win, coming in second, just behind Johannes Adamietz, but took enough points to don the polka dot jersey, as leader of the King of the Mountains classification. On the final stage Tsarenko went on the attack again, but was very happy just to take home the climber's jersey.
Talking about his great performance on stage 4, Kyrylo Tsarenko said, "I am very satisfied with today's performance. Since yesterday, I had planned to break away in today's stage. The initial goal was to take the King of the Mountain classification jersey, as we weren't sure if the breakaway would make it. When we realized the peloton wouldn't close the gap, I gave it my all and managed to achieve this great result.".
