What happens when a bicycle frame becomes a canvas? When mobility becomes a work of art – and that work of art can help people at the same time?
With the corratec Artbike 2026, three worlds come together in an extraordinary project: the new corratec Life S, the abstract color painting of Rosenheim-based artist Annette Werndl, and the long-standing work of the corratec Charity Mission in the Philippines.
The result is a truly unique piece: a hand-painted Life S that will be sold in an online auction for a good cause.
For the Artbike, Annette Werndl transformed the corratec Life S into an individual work of art. Bold yellow meets red, blue, green, violet and other intense splashes of color. Visible brushstrokes, sprayed textures and abstract shapes extend across the entire frame.
At the heart of Werndl's abstract color painting are strength, movement and energy – themes that are also directly connected to cycling and the idea of mobility.
The three-dimensional shape of the Life S required the bicycle to be viewed from constantly changing perspectives throughout the creative process. Lines and surfaces change as they move across curves and edges. A brushstroke that follows a clear form on a flat canvas develops an entirely new dynamic on a bicycle frame due to its geometry.
Annette Werndl therefore had to continuously adapt her work to the curves and contours of the frame. It is precisely this process that makes the finished Artbike a work of art that can be rediscovered from every angle.
