Interview with Dr. Ludwig Geiger: (Part 1)
16.10.2025 11:27
How does the bike-specific riding position of the corratec Life neutralize body weight, and why is this beneficial?
Dr. Ludwig Geiger: The specially developed frame design with a low step-through allows particularly heavier riders and/or people with limited mobility to mount the bike without effort or additional strain. This ensures optimal weight distribution and relieves stress on the spine and joints.
How can corratec Life training help improve mobility for this target group?
Dr. Ludwig Geiger: People whose mobility is limited due to osteoarthritis, spinal conditions, or after accidents that restrict walking or running can improve their mobility with this training. It can also provide support in long COVID treatment. Training on the corratec Life allows for gentle yet effective movement that strengthens muscles while protecting the joints.
What role does biomechanical optimization play in corratec Life bikes?
Dr. Ludwig Geiger: The specially developed frame design with a low step-through allows particularly heavier riders and/or people with limited mobility to mount the bike effortlessly and without additional strain. This is a decisive factor in maximizing biomechanical efficiency and increasing comfort.
What advantages does the corratec Life offer compared to other training devices for people with orthopedic pre-existing conditions?
Dr. Ludwig Geiger: In addition to the low step-through, which resists all torsional forces, the special saddle design compensates for lateral misloads on the pelvis and spine. Optimal adjustment options for the stem and handlebar allow for a physiological spinal posture and effective use of the controls. In addition, large, reliable disc brakes provide extra safety.
How has the collaboration between you and corratec developed?
Dr. Ludwig Geiger: The partnership between corratec and myself has made it possible to tailor the corratec Life bike series specifically to the needs of people with health-related limitations. Through continuous exchange and jointly conducted studies, we have been able to further optimize the bikes and adapt them to the specific requirements of our target group.
