E-Power RS 150 650B Plus CX

The Velomotion has tested our brand new e-fully, the E-power RS 150, at the Riva Bike Festival 2018. There is hardly a more suitable place for this than the demanding and technical trails around Lake Garda. Read here the detailed test report by Andreas Gasslbauer and Michael Faiß (Text and Photos by Velomotion, 30/04/2018):

The Frame

The newly developed Shadow Edge Tube technology ensures that the battery disappears completely inside the down tube. With this unique technology, the battery is additionally protected by a massive frame cover, which is attached to the battery with a sliding system and can therefore be removed again at any time. The installation of the battery into the downtube occurs quickly and comfortable. Finally the battery has to be locked in order to make sure that the battery will not drop out and sits safe and solid inside the frame. On the other hand the removal of the Intube works easy and fast as well. After opening the lock, the battery drops out just for a few millimeters and a second lock has be to opened before the battery can be completely removed. All in all a clean, reliable and safe solution. The functionality and design of the Shadow Edge Tube Technology is an unique innovation compared to all competitive integrated systems on the market. Another highlight of the new E-Power RS 150 is the boost frame. With wider front and rear hubs and bottom bracket, bikers can now ride both 29 as well as 27.5 plus inch tires. The boost standard provides further advantages like stability and stiffness that is crucial for long and demanding downhill and uphill trails. With a seat angle of 74 ° and a steering angle of 67 °, it contains all important characteristics of an all mountain, touring and trail bike.

The Components

The tested model, E-Power RS 150 650B Plus CX, comes in 2018 with a RockShox Reba RL fork and 150mm Front Travel. For the brakes one rely on the Magura MT Trail systems with 4 piston at the front and 2 piston at the rear. Furthermore a Schimano Deore XT 11 is installed. Of course, for a trail bike, the E-Power RS 150 has a Vario seat post. A real eyecatcher are the seat clamp by Reverse and the handlebar of sixpack which fits perfectly to the overall design of the bike. The Bosch Performance CX engine, equipped with 75 Nm and a 500 Wh battery, provide the necessary power for challenging uphill trails. Moreover the small Purion display fits perfectly with the sporty demands of the bike and the rider can quickly change between the individual support levels of the engine. The test bike was installed with a Rocket Ron at the back and Nobby Nic on the front wheel. The Plus tires ensures traction and safitiy on the trail among various surface conditions.

On the Trail

For the test ride Velomotion has choosen the challenging Coast Trail on Lake Garda. With approximately 800 meters of downhill the trail contains almost all difficulties that a technical descent must have: Steps, drops, larger rocks, flowy and rough parts. However, these difficulties could not harm the bike rather the bike really has its strengths on such demanding downhill trails. With the plus tires, the E-Fully has always traction on the trail. Combined with the agile chassis, the bike swallows many bumps and ensures a safe and comfortable ride on rough descents. The Magura brakes works quickly and reliably and complete the whole package of the bike.

Conclusion

The testers of the Velomotion came to the following conclusion: "We have tested the Corratec E-Power RS 150 on Lake Garda under really tough circumstances. The Coast trail is even for an enduro bike with more front and back travel a real challenge.
