E-Power RS 150 Factory

As part of the E-MTB Special Edition, the editors and testers of the World of MTB have exceptionally laid the latest e-mountain bikes on the test bench. Including the top version of our E-Power RS 150 Factory. Read here the detailed review (text and photos WorldofMTB, issue No.2.19):

The Frame

True to the motto - restraint has never been their strength - the E-Power RS 150 shines with unique technologies that are second to none in the competition and thus drove the E-Fully to the test victory in the "Tour / Allmountain" category. Almost always one wheel length in advance!

The newly developed Shadow Edge Tube technology ensures that the battery disappears completely inside the down tube. With this unique technology, the battery is additionally protected by a massive frame cover, which is attached to the battery with a sliding system and can therefore be removed again at any time. The installation of the battery into the downtube occurs quickly and comfortable. Finally the battery has to be locked in order to make sure that the battery will not drop out and sits safe and solid inside the frame. On the other hand the removal of the Intube works easy and fast as well. After opening the lock, the battery drops out just for a few millimeters and a second lock has be to opened before the battery can be completely removed. All in all a clean, reliable and safe solution. The functionality and design of the Shadow Edge Tube Technology is an unique innovation compared to all competitive integrated systems on the market. Another highlight of the new E-Power RS 150 is the boost frame. With wider front and rear hubs and bottom bracket, bikers can now ride both 29 as well as 27.5 plus inch tires. The boost standard provides further advantages like stability and stiffness that is crucial for long and demanding downhill and uphill trails. With a seat angle of 74 ° and a steering angle of 67 °, it contains all important characteristics of an all mountain, touring and trail bike.

The Components

The tires with the Schwalbe Magic Marry provide plenty of grip and traction. At the same time the tire is still extremely light and stable. Perfect for the additional requirements of an E-MTB. The small and elegant Bosch Purion display emphasizes the sporting demands of the E-Power RS 150 and a remote lockout for the Vario support provides additional comfort. Switching is done with a Sram Eagle switching group. Precise and fine shifts of the extra class are guaranteed. When things get faster and harder, the Trail combination, 4-piston caliper on the front and 2-piston rear brake calipers, each with 203 mm discs from the Magura brand, guarantees premium class braking performance at all times under all weather conditions.

For the wheels we also rely on the highest quality with the Mavic XA 29 inch with Boost Standard. The chassis combines a FOX 36 fork with 150mm travel. This is joined by a DPX2 strut also from FOX and 150mm travel. This combination inspired the testers in a unique way because, when properly adjusted, gives the rider the ultimate sense of safety and comfort at all times, on a wide variety of surfaces and even in the most challenging weather conditions. Even rough trails become a pleasure.

On the Trail

The E-Power RS 150 provides a slightly shorter top tube for an upright seating position. Especially on long trips, this property turns out to be a gold worthy advantage. The finely tuned suspension consisting of a Fox 36 fork and DPX2 shock absorber, also from Fox, ensures high comfort and safety. Best times on all trails in the world are guaranteed. But not only downhill the E-MTB enthusiastic testers, especially the Uphill properties made the same degree for the test victory and round off the overall package of Tour / Allmountain E-Fullies in a perfect way. The extremely powerful Bosch Performance CX engine with approx. 75 Nm of torque develops a lot of power, in combination with high-traction Schwalbe Magic Mary tires and a balanced geometry enables even technically demanding uphill walking through roots and loose boulders to be mastered in a playful way. All in all, the E-Power RS 150 Factory is the perfect choice for technically demanding as well as long all-mountain tours and guarantees a lot of fun.

The testers of the Velomotion came to the following conclusion: The slightly shorter top tube ensures a more comfortable seating position, which is especially proven on long tours and with the suspension of FOX with 150mm travel in front and rear the bike has plenty of potential for demanding downhills. The frame with the Shadow Edge Tube provides an appealing design with integrated cable routing and also offers additional space for a bottle cage holder due to the fact that the battery will be removed from the bottom.
