Corones Ultegra convinced

The german online Magazin velomotion tested the corones Ultegra. Aluminiumbikes are still a good and reasonable alternative to a carbonbike. The corones is a great model for roadbikers who want to have a great bike with a high pricevalue. For under 1.800€ a complet Ultegra groupset, Rotor Crankset  and solid Mavic Aksium wheelset. The pro cyclist Florian Nowak has tested the bike to the fullest and Michael Faiß took the pictures of the bike. Read here his conclusion:

Frame and Fork

The corratec corones has an unique design and stands out with the bright colours. If you would like it a bit less noticeable we also offer a black/blue/white version of it. This model comes with a complete Shimano Ultegra groupset. As always the ultegra is characterized by a solid switching behavior and easy handling. One of the highlights of the corones is for sure it´s Pro Control fork. This Fork has it´s own vibration dampener and helps do prevent Upper body exhausten. Through its aerodynamic design the air resistence has been decreased and supports to its great stability.

Components

As already mentioned the well known Shimano Ultegra group is implemented. The shifting system is characterized by an excellent price/performance ratio and can compete with significantly more expensive (mechanical) models in terms of functionality.  The wheels are set on solid Mavic Aksium and are equipped with Continental GrandPrix tires. The mavic wheels are highly suitable for long and hard training rides because of their stability. Furthermore the bike consists special chain rings. The implemented Q-Rings of the brand rotor increases the power transmission and decreases knee troubles as well as fatigue. Even pro cyclists like Chris Froome are used to ride with oval chain rings. Components such as handlebar, stem and seat post are directly from Corratec respectively the house brand ZZYZX and match to the overall desgin in classic black. The ergonomics of the handlebar ist sportive.

On the road

The seating position of the bike is sportive but at the same time it delivers the required comfort for long rides. The Racer has a solid weight of approximately 8,4 kg and all in all it is quite stiff. Therefore it combines the ability to ride long and steep climbs with the necessary speed for fast sprints.  The comfort is pretty well for a aluminum bike and the "Pro Control" Fork take care to dampen strokes. The additional components such as the mavic aksium wheels and Ultegra shifting group impresses by functionality.  With the rotor 2D crank the bike has a special feature, even if you have to get used to the oval chainring but all in all it improves your performance on the road. The handlebar, stem and seat post of the own brand ZZYZX do not pose a problem and are pleasant to the overall picture.

Conclusion

Tester Florian Nowak came to the follwoing conclusion: The Corratec Corones is suitable for riders who are looking for an aluminium frame with a sportive, racing geometry and reliable components. Especially beginners and price conscius bikers will benefit from the road bike.
