Irlbacher emphasizes that the technical progress of e-Bikes is still at the beginning and this is already one of the crucial sectors for the bike industry. Furthermore the electronical parts concquer additional categories except MTB and Trekking. Also road bikes becoming more and more elictrified. Another important point is that the bike manufacturers has to be aware that there are potential rivals from other sectors such as the automotiv industry that can have a huge impact on the competitiveness of a lot of bicycle brands. Buy the current edition of the magazine and read the entire interview, test reports and many further interesting information about bicycles (Nr. 2.18 Fahrrad News)

From the 13th to the 15th of April, the 20th edition of the Granfondo Riccione took place. Corratec has been the main sponsor for the first time this year. The Granfondo, in the heart of Italian road bike cycling Riccione, is a well known and prestigious granfondo race within a strong Italian racing field. On the former training track of racing bike icons like Marco Pantani and Fausto Coppi, almost 3.000 road cyclists challenged the two routes. Our team corratec was also among the starters with 6 riders. For the team, the Granfondo was the first real test among racing conditions. Therefore everybody was looking forward and also a little bit excited to see how the preperations during the long off season proceed. Because the new team members, the race tactics and the new material has to merge into a single unit to deliver strong performances and results throughout the season. It turned out that the Granfondo Riccione became a tough challenge for all riders, staff and material. Thus, from the very first kilometer, an enormously high speed was shown. At one of the many climbs, a small group of riders went into a break away and the peloton couldn´t close the gap untill the finish line. Although none of the team riders reached the final group of the day, Michael Markolf and Roman Mira de Orduna Heidinger claimed in the next chasing group. So Michael secured a top result and finished 9th. With a strong team performance, all riders among the first 40 overall, the team secured the strong 9th place in the team ranking. Team manager Kuno Messmann was more than satisfied with the season opener and is already looking forward to the Sardinia tour starting on Sunday, April 22nd. Additionally our two new teams, Fausto Coppi Fermignano and Frecce Rosse were also at the start. In the women's race, GORINI MICHELA of Team Fausto Coppi won on her new CCT Evo. LAZZARI SILVER of Team Frecce Rosse took the second place of the mens field. All in all, the Granfondo Riccione was a racing event of a very special kind among the purpose of corratec - Passion of cycling. In Italy cycling is more than just a freetime activity, it´s lifestyle and fervor that you can feel at any time. A local daily magazine namely OVB, reported about our company and the trend of e-bikes and e-mobility. Therefore the editor of the ressort economy visited our headquarter and interviewed the CEO Konrad Irlbacher. During this interview they discussed the importance of corratec for the regional labour market and the future trend of e-mobility. Corratec is a well embedded producer of bikes and is charactarized by unique technologies and goods. So developed the bavarian firm in 1997 the first road bike with disc brakes. Further technologies followed such as the Inside Link, the Fusion Tube Edge and finally in 2018 the integrated power pack with the Shadow Edge Tube. All among the claim of corratec: Passion of cycling. In 2011/2012 there was a change, pedelecs conquered the bike industry and created new possibilities for growth in a more and more saturated market. Nowadays there are more than 680.000 sold E-Bikes particularly in germany. And Konrad Irlbacher emphasized a further development: E-Mobility in large urban areas. E-Bikes could solve a lot of problems like limited parking areas and smog in cities with a great population such as Berlin, Hamburg, Frankfurt, Munich. This theory of Konrad Irlbacher can be underlined by a survey of one of the leading manufacturer of E-Bike power units, the german company Bosch. The main purpose of the survey is that already in ten years every second bike will have an electrical engine. Another special point of E-Bikes is that the so called time to market, the time from the development to the selling introduction, is relatively short and therefore the most competitors release almost every year a new technology and product range. This leads to the fact that the expectations of the customers in terms of novelties are tremendously. Corratec has to deal with this challenge. In 2018 the producer released a completely new world of corratec with the e-bike LifeS. The special geometry of the bike enables the rider to place the feed on the ground while staying seated in a comfortable position on the saddle. The image video became one of the most famous commercial movies in the bike industry and embedded corratec in a new world. For the future there are a lot of new ways to use the electrical engine, for instance the sector of sport e-mtb is getting even more important and also the road range is a possible field for e-bikes. Actually Konrad Irlbacher lead the company together with his wife Cielo Irlbacher. (OVB, Elisabeth Sennhenn, Wednesday the 17th of January 2018)
A crucial novelty of the corratec Range 2018, corratec LifeS, was tested among further bikes by one of the most prestigious E-Bike magazines in germany namely ElektroRad, and received the grade 1,5 decision "very good". Therefore is well embedded among the best city E-Bikes. Due to it´s special features, quality and design the bike is an absolut magnificent eyecatcher and is the base for a #STRONG test result. An ONE SIZE FRAME of the corratec LifeS fits for (almost) every person. Additionally the special geometry enables you to stay with your feed on the ground while sitting in the saddle. The bike is perfectly suitable for the city and the powerful Bosch Active Plus engine provides a super comfortable and easy ride. With the different mud guards you can individualize your own LifeS.
The italian MTB rider and memeber of the team Lunardi - corratec, Andrea Pendini, had a very successfull race season 2017. He took several podium and victories in his age class. By taking into consideration his outstanding results, there are three highlights to point out. Certainly one has to highlight the bronze medal in his category at the Cross Country World Championships in La Massana Andorra. Furthermore he took the victory at the challenging mtb-marathon in Val di Sole, Italy, and therefore the title as national marathon champion. Finally at the italian cross country championships he crossed the finish line in third place. All in all Andrea prooved with the tremendous results in 2017 that he is part of the world elite in mtb marathon and cross country cycling. For 2018 Andrea concentrate on the euorpean marathon and cross country championships, the national Championships and finally in July the Cross Country World Championships. We look forward to the upcoming races and wish Andrea and his team, Lunardi - corratec, all the best for the season 2018.
The mountain bike magazine "world of mtb" nominated in their special issue "Best of 2018" the probably best components, or as the editors of the "world of mtb" says: "Best of - these are first and foremost cool parts. " Of course, our bikes should not be missing. This is how our two innovations Revolution 29 SL Eagle and the E-Fully E-Power RS 150 are presented in the categories MTB hardtail and E-MTBs. The new frame of the Revolution 29 SL appears with new colours. Furthermore the bike is available from 2018 with the SRAM Eagle shifting system. Relating these novelties to the well embbeded corratec technologies, the bike is a real weapon on the Cross-Country tracks in the world. On the other hand there is also represented the new E-Fully namely E-Power RS 150 29 CX. The innovative and well-designed frame as well as the nice and stylish integrated battery make the bike to a perfect trailbike with lots of flow - even uphill.
In the current issue 1/2 2018, the magazine "RennRad" reports on the career of one of the most successful team corratec riders, Stefan Oettl and his intensive connection to racing cycling. Stefan Oettl discovered his passion and talent for cycling relatively late, at the beginning of 30 years. The time before Oettl had no great relation to sports. In contrast, he worked 40 to 50 hours a week, smoked and weighed around 90 kilograms at a height of 1.74 meters. After a serious motorcycle accident in 2002, his life has changed. Initially, Oettl tried to rehabilitate with jogging and a healthy diet. In addition, he also stopped smoking. In 2006 he bought his first racing bike and a long and passionate relationship has begun. Already in 2008 he participates at the first large granfondo races and could also enter first successes, so he was already second in the demanding Engadin bike marathon. Starting in the 2014 season, Stefan is racing for the team corratec and has won immediately the Masters category of the Tour Transalp with his partner Wolfgang Hoffmann. Stefan is characterized by his physical strength. In combination with his unbounded will, he is a guarantee of success and continues to develop despite his advanced age. Stefan is a big name in the marathon scene today. Of his nearly 90 kilos, he has now reached almost 64 kilos. At the legendary Ötztal Cycling Marathon, which is considered the unofficial world championship for marathoners, Stefan rodes the 227 kilometers with more than 5000 vertical meters in 7 hours and 6 minutes, and took a sensational 6th place. Despite his success, Stefan is a real teamplayer and we are glad to have such a rider in our ranks. We are looking forward to 2018 and a further successful season with him.
Since this Wednesday, 22.11.2017, you can admire our new products for the season 2018 at the fair Touristik & Caravaning in Leipzig. The largest fair in Central Germany for camping, tourism, bike and outdoor is still open until Sunday 26.11.2017. Take the opportunity and get an overview of the new products for 2018 from corratec. Especially the newly developed Shadow Edge Tube is especially worth seeing. The all new Shadow Edge Tube hides the Bosch Battery Pack completely inside the down tube and provides therefore a nice shape and look of the frame, nevertheless the battery can be removed out of the down tube. The special design of the edge improves the stiffness of the frame and causes more stability and security of the E-Bike frame. This technology is used on the new models in the e-MTB area and e-trekking. In addition, we also present the corratec Life. Thanks to the Fusion Tube Edge technology, we can guarantee a permissible system weight of 180 kg. Combined with the low entry, the high degree of stability and safety the bike can be seen as the SUV among e-bikes. Stop by and take a personal look at our bike range. Where do you find us?
The Ötztal winner of 2016 has prepared from 28.10. - 04.11. at the legendary Mont Ventoux for the upcoming 2018 season. The mountain in the French Provence is considered as a racing bike classic, in which have already spectacular duels have happened. In his preparation, Bernd Hornetz covered a total of 1,160 kilometers and 23,000 vertical meters. According to Hornetz "the prelude to the basic training after the training break". Overall, he drove six times over the summit. Twice by Malaucene and once by Sault, as well as three times the Bedoin classic. He achieved the fastest climb in 1:22 hours. In RennRad he reports his experiences in detail. The CCT Evo was the perfect companion for Hornetz on Mount Ventoux, as it is aerodynamic, lightweight but still very stiff due to the carbon frame. In addition, the road bike is suitable for both flat and mountainous routes.
The german magazine Velomotion presented the new E-Trekking, City & Urban collection on 14th of November 2017, as well as the brand new Shadow Edge Tube technology with the integrated Power Tube from Bosch. Above all, corratec LifeS and corratec Life were highlighted as two special highlights. Read the conclusion of Michael Faiß: "The new E-Citybike stands on small 20" wheels, which in turn come with wide balloon tires. The orientation is clear: The bike should be an equally stylish as practical companion for the city. The One Size Fits All frame, with its low-profile geometry, allows the feet to be placed comfortably on the ground when stopping, without having to move out of the saddle. In contrast to the brand new Life S, the corratec Life is something of an old acquaintance in the portfolio of the manufacturer from Upper Bavaria. Whether due to illness, age or overweight: The corratec Life offers here very good conditions to grant a pleasant and easy start here. The corratec C29 comes with wide 29-inch tires for extra comfort and traction off the beaten track - a great choice for those who want to take their bikes apart from everyday riding with their e-bikes. The E-Power 28 comes with classic 28 inch trekking tires and is a good allrounder. Somewhat more exotic in terms of its wheel size comes from the E-Power 26 low beginner. These bikes are equipped with the 26-inch standard that many have already declared "dead." However, the choice makes sense for some applications: The smaller wheels are usually stiffer and more stable than their large counterparts and the wheel is noticeably more agile with a smaller turning circle due to the shorter wheelbase; especially in the narrow city centers a very positive side effect. New in the model year 2018 is the Shadow Edge Tube technology. The all new Shadow Edge Tube protects the Bosch Battery Pack completely inside the down tube. Special reinforcements provide stability and a clever mechanism facilitates removal, despite the hollow interior. A total of four E-Power models will be available in 2018 with integrated batteries in the frame. "(Velomotion.de, Michael Faiß, 14th of November, 2017)
Velomotion presents on 23.10.17 the new e-bike range from corratec. Probably the biggest innovation in the e-bike sector in 2018 is the widespread distribution of the integrated batteries. In the coming year, Corratec will use energy storage in the down tube of all E-MTBs. Bosch supplies the PowerTube 500 battery, which thanks to its compact, elongated shape can be integrated very well in the frame. At Corratec this is called Shadow Edge Tube. It makes the battery completely disappear in the frame and thus ensures a shapely and clear look. Nevertheless, the battery can be easily removed from the frame for charging. This intelligent cover mechanism was developed by corratec and is already patent pending. Along these pages run all the cables and wires, which can be reached so quickly and easily in a maintenance or repair case. On the other hand, one has also thought about an elegant attachment of the battery. This is quite an issue, especially frequent travelers will certainly take the battery during the tour from time to time and hang on the net. In addition, the new E-Fullys will come from 2018 with the Boost Standard. The rear hub grows in its width from 142 to 148 mm. The front hub has an increase from 100 to 110mm. Therefore, in frames with the BOOST standard in addition to the usual 29er wheels and 27.5 rear wheels can be mounted with Plus tires. The crank also pushes outward by 3mm, which provides additional stability in the area of the bottom bracket.
The biathlet Arnd Peiffer visited us at the DSV lining at Würth airport in Schwäbisch Hall and was able to admire the new Revolution 29 SL Eagle. The new top model is a real eye-catcher because of the new color combinations, since this year the bike is available in a glossy black-blue frame. In addition, the Carbon Hardtail features high-quality components. This is how you go new ways with the SRAM Eagle. Therefore, only one chainring is installed at the front and on the rear cassette with the additional 12th pinion provides sufficient range. DT Swiss skis and the Rockshox SID World Cup suspension fork with 100mm spring travel ensure a fun ride on the trails and at the same time the stiffness to climb the mountains quickly. The 29 inch Continental Race-King tires and the sporty racing geometry make the bike a rocket on the cross-country tracks of this world.
At the end of a long season with the german cycling cup, the team started at the 3rd of October with a total amount of 12 riders and one woman on the course of the Sparkasse Münsterland Cup with 66 kilometers. Even it has rained the night before and the roads were still wet, at 8 o´clock when the race started, the race remained dry. The strategy was coordinated within the team and consistently implemented. Dirk Müller, Georg Krampe, Dominik Weber, Dominik Hofeditz, Jonas Arlt, Christof Blum and Markus Schultheis worked well together at the front of the race. Each effort was taken, each attack neutralized. Five kilometers before the finish line it came finally to a bunch sprint. The final of the 2017 season was launched in Münster. Arlt, Weber, Blum, Schultheis were able to hold their ground in the leading third of the peloton. In the best position, Georg Krampe took the sprint 200m ahead of the finish line and secured the second podium finish of the TEAM in this year's German Cycling Cup season. Jonas Arlt, once again very strong, scored the 14th place. At the end of the day, three podium finishes in the age classes and a victory in the team ranking.
Our team corratec riders made top results again at the end of the season. Wolfgang Hofmann and Stefan Oettl started the last September weekend at the Kolsass Challenge in Tyrol. On the heavy climb Wolfgang Hofmann was able to win the overall victory with an impressive performance. Last year's winner Stefan Oettl took the 4th place after a big fight and secured the victory in his age class. In the meantime, Bernd Hornetz took part at the test races for next years World Championship in Varese, Italy. As one know from the UCI World Championship for professional cyclists, the Granfondo World Championship also consists of a time trial and a road race. At the 22 km long time trial, Bernd scored an honorable 5th place. At the road race he has been in the top group for a long time, before a technical defect repelled him. After a great fight and an incredible effort, he achieved a sensational 3rd place. These results suggest the next year's World Cup. Another member of the team corratec family, Alexander Kunz, celebrated a successful comeback after 5 months of injury. At the international city championship on the MTB in Kufstein, the young star from Aschau in the Chiemgau scored the 5th place and won the victory in his age class.
Last week the Bavarian TV filmed with the climbing expert Alexander Huber and our brand new E-Fully RS 150, a small report about the e-bike boom on the mountain. More information to our brand new E-Fully coming soon.
With the Eddy Merckx Classic in Salzburg, the racing season is traditionally completed. The race, which took place last Sunday, led over 169 km with 2609 meters of altitude. Unfortunate in "Belgian" conditions, rain and cold, but these circumstances did not have an impact at the active team performance. The main goal of the team was to split the peloton right from the start. The 4 team corratec riders Hornetz, Markolf, Oettl and Reisner were in a 12-lead group after their very active starting phase. A technical defect by Bernd Hornetz, however, destroyed the good starting position. In the further course of the race, Martin Reisner and Bernd Hornetz tried to limit the damage together and finally to secure the victory in the team ranking. In addition, Stefan Oettl won the victory in his category. The placements of Team corratec riders: Michael Markolf 3rd Stefan Oettl 4th Martin Reisner 17th Bernd Hornetz 21nd This result completes the successful season 2017 perfectly. The attractive and dedicated racing style of the team throughout the season is impressive as well as the perfect support through the team management. We at Corratec are proud to support the team and wish all the best for the upcoming challenges.
The bike magazine has taken a closer eye at our brand new LifeS at the Eurobike 2017. The LifeS is not a common bike, rather it is an eyecatcher and the right bike for all those who wants to provoke. Michael Faiß came to the following conclusion: This is a compact, stylish city cruiser with Bosch ActiveLine Plus engine - but that is only half the truth. First of all, the small 20 inch wheels are particularly noticeable. An unmistakable look, which also has unquestioned advantages in the riding behavior for the tight curves of the urban everyday life and much comfort thanks to the large tire volume. The Corratec Life S is only available in a single frame size, which can however be ridden by (almost) all drivers of different body sizes. On the technical side, besides the Bosch ActiveLinePlus engine, there are disc brakes and hub switching in all equipment variants. The two popular variants LifeS Active 400 and 500 rely on Shimano's Nexus 7-speed transmission, the top model LifeS NuVinchi comes, as the name suggests, with the stepless N380 gear hub from NuVinci. Not to be missed in a Stadtrad of course also a fixed lighting system at all equipment variants. Likewise, the chicly integrated and generally rather inconspicuous luggage carriers should meet with much encouragement. (Author: Michael Faiß, Velomotion Munich, 4th of september 2017)
Conclusion: In the latest edition of the bike magazin Fahrrad-News the entry-level model is thoroughly tested. With just over 9 kilos, the classic entry level components such as the Shimano shifter group of 105 and the bold color combinations, the Dolomiti not only offers beginners loyal service but is also recommended for ambitious challenges. Because the Dolomiti shines with precise handling especially with fast descents. All in all, the Corratec Dolomiti with its comfortable seat position is a classic racing bike for beginners. With aluminum frame and Shimano equipment it is still sporty in the performance. (Fahrrad-News, edition 04 2017)
