Victory at "Stelvio"

Michael Spögler wins again the race at the Stifser Joch

The "Cima Coppi" with 1800 m of altitude on24 km and 48 bends were to be mastered. The starting field was strong as usual. After the start in Prad a large leading group was formed with About 20 riders. The pace was set by Thomas Gschnitzer. After Trafoi the riders increased the Speed. Only Zamboni and Spögler were ablt to follow Gschnitzer. The other athlets stayed behind and went on with their own rhythm. At the next shallow passage. Spögler realized that zamboni was having troubles keeping his rear Wheel. So he increased the Speed with Gschnitzer with success. Zamboni demolished About ten Kilometers form the finish. Spögler and Gschnitzer went on but the did not increase the pace form this Point. Only 5 km before the finish Spögler was able to recover a bit and was able to start the last Speed increase only 2 km before the finish line. This was his only Chance because he knew he would not have the power to try it agian. But he was able to get away from Gschnitzer. He was able to gain a lead from 10-5 seconds. Gschnitzer could not close the gap until the finish line and Spögler was able to celebrate his scond success at the Stelvio Pass Series. A very decent perfomrance, which he can be really satisfied!
