On last Sunday the team started with 6 riders at the famous and well established granfondo race. Right from the start the rider tackled the short but steep climb up to the Arlberg Pass. The team corratec leaders Michael Markolf, Michael Spögler and Johannes Berndl crossed the first peak with the first group. After a long and fast descent as well as a flat passage, the demanding climb with the King of the Mountain classification to the Bieler Höhe with an altitude of more than 2.000 meters followed. The main goal was to win this unique classification. Meanwhile the team should be in the first group at the peak with at least 2 riders. The plan worked very well and Michael Markolf and Michael Spögler took the final Kilometers with 4 other competitors at the front. Finally Spögler took the victory in a sprint of just 2 riders. Markolf came in as 3rd. Furthermore Markus Emmerich and Martin Reisner crossed the finish line with the chasing group and took the 2nd as well as the 3rd place in their categories. All in all the weekend was a great success for the team because only one day before, on saturday, the italian Michael Spögler won the legendary uphill race to the Kitzbüheler Horn also in Austria. The really really taff climb contains parts with 18 % to 23 % grade. Spögler showed a huge effort and took a superior win with over 1 minute ahead to the 2nd place. These results prove that the team is in line with the main goal of the 3rd part of the season 2018, the legendary Ötztaler Radmarathon, that comes ahead at the beginning of September.
