Team corratec at the Super Giro Dolomiti

The Super Giro Dolomiti 2018 with more than 200 Kilometers and 5.000 meters of climbing one of the hardest races of the season.

A high quality starter field promised great excitement. Among the participants were MTB marathon world champion Alban Lakata, Ötztaler winner Stefano Cecchini, Nove Colli winner Igor Zanetti and the native marathon race Daniel Rubisoier, Daniel Pechtl, Thomas Gschnitzer and Andreas Tappeiner. Especially on the climbs the Italian Cecchini set the pace very high and so five men breakaway went away from the peloton. Among it team corratec rider Michael Spögler and the favorites Lakata and Cecchini. After 160 km Spögler was not able to follow the pace of Cecchini and Lakata, alone he went his own rhythm further to the finish and secured with a huge effort the 5th overall and the 2nd place in his age group. A great result for the young South Tyrolean in this tough race.

At 9:30 then started the participants of the short distance. With our team members Johannes Berndl, Tomas Mojares and Markus Emmerich. The race was very fast all the time. On the climbs there was constantly a high speed and in the few flat passages one attack came to another. The young Tomas Mojares was able to assert himself in the first chasing group and came in 13th overall. With this great performance Tomas won his age group. Johannes Berndl came together with Markus Emmerich in the second big group to the finish. All in all, it was an instructive weekend for the team. With convincing achievements, one looks with confidence on the upcoming tasks. The detailed race report and other fast race pictures, on the team corratec homepage: HERE.
