The Tour started this year in Brixen / Italy. The team corratec had 2 teams at the starting line. Team corratec1 with Michael Markolf and Michael Spögler. Team corratec2 with Martin Reisner and the young Tomas Mojares. Furthermore a third team participated under the headline Team corratec and friends. Alexander Kunz und Hubert Kreutz were the two lucky guys of our special Tour Transalp raffle. Meanwhile corratec offered a full mechanical service at the Expo Area for all participants. The first stage took the riders from Brixen across the Passo Gardena to St. Vigil in South Tyrol. Michael Markolf and Michael Spögler showed already at the first stage a very strong performance and took the stage victory even Spögler crashed in the descent. The team corratec2 crossed the finish line as 13th overall. The following day the riders had to deal first of all with the passo Furcia, which is close to the legendary Kronplatz or in italian Plan de Corones and ended in Sillian, the one and only destination that was not located in Italy rather in Austria. Here team corratec1 had a really bad day and lost almost 10 minutes to the winning team and lost the leaders, yellow jersey. The third day was a real eyecatcher. Among the famous Marmolata mountains and cortina d'ampezzo the participants were faced with a phenomenal scenery and the weather was also perfect with almoust 30 degree. At this stage Markolf and Spögler recovered well of the following day and crossed the finish line as second. But concerning a time penalty for the winning duo our team corratec1 won the stage and took the second victory of this Tour Transalp 2018. What a comeback. The fourth stage led the starters across the famous Monte Grappa to Crespano del Grappa. This was a solid day for all team corratec riders and everybody defended their positions in the overall ranking. The two following days became to a tough challenge for everybody, and not only human beings but also the roadbikes suffered in a great extent. Here a lot of corratec test roadbikes faced the road. The majority with disc brakes. The fifth stage was with almost 150 km and more than 3.000 meters of climbing the queen stage of the Tour Transalp. The next stage also contained approximately 3.000 meters of climbing and started in Trento and went to Kaltern the homebase of Michael Spögler. Therefore both Michael´s were highly motivated and took in a tremendous way the stage victory. The third stage win. Unfortunately they missed with only 15 seconds the 2nd place in the general classification. Hence the strategy for the last stage was easy to define. Full gas and attack on all the 1.500 meters of climbing. All in all they showed a huge effort and secured the 2nd place in the overall classification. Team corratec2 also rode very constantly and placed among the Top 15 overall in a very competitive starter field. Our Team corratec and friends riders were also very happy with the week full of emotions, racing and impressions. Placed among the Top 60 they can be very happy with their result. We from corratec are proud of all efforts of the team corratec and the team corratec and friends riders. It was a special honour for us to support all participants on their way to Riva del Garda and we are already looking forward to 2019.
