In the current issue 1/2 2018, the magazine "RennRad" reports on the career of one of the most successful team corratec riders, Stefan Oettl and his intensive connection to racing cycling. Stefan Oettl discovered his passion and talent for cycling relatively late, at the beginning of 30 years. The time before Oettl had no great relation to sports. In contrast, he worked 40 to 50 hours a week, smoked and weighed around 90 kilograms at a height of 1.74 meters. After a serious motorcycle accident in 2002, his life has changed. Initially, Oettl tried to rehabilitate with jogging and a healthy diet. In addition, he also stopped smoking. In 2006 he bought his first racing bike and a long and passionate relationship has begun. Already in 2008 he participates at the first large granfondo races and could also enter first successes, so he was already second in the demanding Engadin bike marathon. Starting in the 2014 season, Stefan is racing for the team corratec and has won immediately the Masters category of the Tour Transalp with his partner Wolfgang Hoffmann. Stefan is characterized by his physical strength. In combination with his unbounded will, he is a guarantee of success and continues to develop despite his advanced age. Stefan is a big name in the marathon scene today. Of his nearly 90 kilos, he has now reached almost 64 kilos. At the legendary Ötztal Cycling Marathon, which is considered the unofficial world championship for marathoners, Stefan rodes the 227 kilometers with more than 5000 vertical meters in 7 hours and 6 minutes, and took a sensational 6th place. Despite his success, Stefan is a real teamplayer and we are glad to have such a rider in our ranks. We are looking forward to 2018 and a further successful season with him.
A reliable training device from Stefan is the Carbon Renner CCT EVO, from this year also available with the electronic SRAM RED eTAP. More information about the road bike: HERE.
