Glorieux und Michels in the footsteps of the Maillot Jaune

Last weekend on Sunday the 7th of July 2019, Frederic Glorieux and Bob Michels started at one of the most spectecular roadbike races the Marmotte Granfondo Alpes. This classic contains some of the legendary climbs in the alpes and crucial aspects of the worlds most difficult road bike race - The Tour de France.

After a challenging Tour Transalp Frederic Glorieux and Bob Michels came to the decision to take part at his demanding bike race. After 10 flat kilometers the track leads the field into the first climb, the Col du Glandon. A long and steady climb of approximately 20 Kilometers, the first challenge of the day. Glorieux and Michels stayed in the main peloton and felt quite comfortable. In the descent of the Col du Glandon 7 riders went away including the team corratec rider Frederic Glorieux. The breakaway tackled the next two climbs, the legendary Col du Télégraphe und Gailbier. During the climb Glorieux increased the pace and just one competitor followed. The 2 riders went over the Galibier and reached the foot of one of the most famous ascents in cycling history, Alpe d'Huez, with a lead of 2 and a half minute. At the first kilometers of the climb Glorieux increased the pace once again and got rid of his component. Therefore he was alone at the head of the race. Unfortunately he lost a lot of energy and slowed down 5 kilometers before the finish line. 3 riders could close the gap and finally Glorieux finished 4th overall. A really strong effort that means finally the 2nd place in his category. Meanwhile Bob Michels showed a solid race as well and took the 15th place in his age class.

During their ride across the most spectacular mountains of the french Alpes, Frederic Glorieux and Bob Michels uses the Team edition of the corratec carbon Roadbike CCT EVO. The Aero Uphill Race machine fits perfectly for these kind of races due to outstanding stiffness and lightweight. All information to the CCT EVO: CLICK HERE!
